"In 1882 New Zealand successfully transported over 5000 frozen carcasses on a ship called the Dunedin but not with out trouble. At one point the Dunedin was deprived of wind and crew began to notice the cold air in the hold was not circulating properly. Captain Whitson, who was so very dedicated, climbed into the storage area and cut holes in the side to create more circulation. During this, he almost lost his life. Crew members succeded to pull him out by a rope tied to his ankles and resuscitation was needed to revive him. This trip took over three months at sea and  at the end all but one carcasses was in perfect condition. This beginning step for New Zealand's new economy quickly labeled them 'Britian's Farmland. Butter and cheese were then quickly added to the new export business."
